    On a general note, the wind is the air that moves quickly as a result of natural forces. Contrary winds therefore mean quick move of events by natural forces but with resultant negative effects. The truth about life is that sometimes contrary winds come our way as negative and unpleasant events.   Contrary winds are not pleasant. They come with great fear and devastation. They work in opposite direction against success and accomplishments. They bring disorder and confusion.   It will be recalled that the disciples of Jesus Christ had to contend with terrible storms – contrary winds. In Matthew 14:24 “But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary.” Then in Mark 4:36-37 “And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship.    The Holy Spirit of God has His own profound ways of manifestation in the life of a believer. These avenues are basically three (3) namely: 1.       The Gifts (Read 1 Corinthians 12 and 14, Ephesians 4:11,12). 2.       The Fruit (Read Galatians 5:22 and 1 Corinthians 13) 3.       The Signs (Read Mark 16:16-20; Luke 10:19 and Acts 1:8) Our Father in heaven so loves us that He always takes it upon Himself to search for man from the torrent of the world and works on us by His Spirit in getting us saved as believers. Even when we were an unbeliever, He did not give up on us in working for our salvation as He is still doing even up till now on every one that is yet to come to Christ (Romans 5: 6-8). When a believer is filled with the Holy Spirit there are marvelous things He will begin to do in such a life. The prophets of old like Elijah, Elisha, Moses, Samuel, David, etc. were able to do exploit by this same Spirit of the Lord.   When we are very young, precisely when in Primary School, we were taught that God, the creator of heaven and earth, lives in heaven and the teachers used to point to the sky to denote the heaven being mentioned. We wondered about the vastness of this sky which is hanging over there without being held by anything and it looks as if it is dropping or touching the ground somewhere. It usually amazed us to hear that this same God –who created the first man (Adam) and his wife (Eve- the first woman) through whom all humanity was brought to being – is kind. This was drummed into our sub-consciousness to the extent that we started making enquiries about who created this God if He had created all things? Our assumption then was:  if man, who was created by this God can create or make other things like fridge, cars, airplanes, etc., somebody else somewhere somehow must have created Him too.
