Confronting Our Powerlessness And Finding True Power

Image
*_Confronting Our Powerlessness and Finding True Power_* Life is filled with pivotal moments that possess the potential to alter our destiny. These instances often reveal our lack of control over life's events. How we respond to these moments can shape our future, either leading to our destruction or propelling us towards a brighter path. The apostle Paul, previously known as Saul of Tarsus, experienced such a transformative moment. His life's direction took an unexpected turn after encountering a divine intervention. Saul had been fervently persecuting Christians, believing he was doing right. However, on his way to Damascus, a blinding light from heaven enveloped him. Falling to the ground, he heard a voice: *"Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me? . . . I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It is hard for you to kick against the goads."* He was instructed to go into the city and await further guidance (Acts 9:3-6). This encounter shattered Saul's self-righte...

Christ, The Anointed One

Image
*CHRIST, THE ANOINTED ONE*. 1 Jn. 2:27 "But the anointing which ye have received of Him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and in truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in Him" ✅When we walk closely with God in purity daily, we grow in the anointing. We are anointed when we read, study, meditate on the word of God, and live our lives based on the word of God daily. ✅We are anointed when we spend quality time in the place of prayer with God alone. ✅Anointing is the outward manifestation of our inward purity and close walk with God daily. *CHARACTERISTICS OF THE ANOINTED*. 1. You will have the Holy Spirit without measure. Jn.3:34. 2. You live a life of humility. Phil. 2:6-8 3. You will love righteousness and hate wickedness. Ps. 45:6-7. 4. You will not love the world or the things in it. 1 Jn. 2:15. 5. You will not live a life of gluttony. Phil. 3:19. 6. You will not follo...

The Indwelling Spirit: No Room for Darkness

Image
The Indwelling Spirit: No Room for Darkness The idea that the Holy Spirit can cohabit with demon spirits within a believer is a dangerous and misleading doctrine. It goes against the clear teaching of Scripture and the very nature of God. When the Holy Spirit takes residence in a believer, He brings with Him the light and life of Christ, driving out all darkness. *"And what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Cor 6:14). There is not a single example in the New Testament of a believer being delivered from demons. The Bible does not contain warnings for Christians to avoid possession, nor does it provide instructions for deliverance services aimed at believers. In fact, the very idea contradicts the nature of the new life we receive in Christ. *"Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed"* (John 8:36). When Christ sets us free, we are truly free—free from the bondage of sin and the power of the enemy. The absence of New Testament teaching on e...

The Holy Spirit: Our Seal and Source of Strength

Image
*_The Holy Spirit: Our Seal and Source of Strength_* The plea, *"Take not Your Holy Spirit from me,"* uttered by King David in Psalm 51:11, echoes through the ages as a heartfelt cry for God's abiding presence in our lives. David understood the profound significance of the Holy Spirit and the consequences of its withdrawal. In the pages of Scripture, we find the story of King Saul, whose tragic downfall serves as a sobering example. Saul was anointed as king, and the Spirit of God rested upon him. However, through disobedience and pride, Saul grieved the Holy Spirit, ultimately leading to its departure from him. The consequences of this separation were profound—Saul faced despair, depression, and a tragic end. This account underscores the importance of cherishing and nurturing the presence of the Holy Spirit in our lives. The Holy Spirit is not a distant force; it is the very presence of God dwelling within believers. It offers us guidance, comfort, and strength in our ...

Reasons Why We Need the Holy Spirit

Image
*REASONS WHY WE NEED THE HOLY SPIRIT* When Jesus was about to go to the Father, He tells His disciples that He would not leave them alone.   He would send another of the same kind as He to be with them. It was the Holy Spirit.  “Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth. It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you.  If I go, I will send Him to you.” (John 16:7 HCSB)  Jesus saw it necessary for the Holy Spirit to come and live in believers, because the New Covenant has a new way of life:   human beings operating with the Holy Spirit within. Unfortunately, many believers live their lives ignoring the Spirit.  Yet, it is not possible to live the life Jesus wants us to live without the help of the Spirit👌.  ```REASONS```  1. *The Holy Spirit empowers us to be witnesses of Jesus* : One of the reasons the Holy Spirit came is to give us power and boldness to be true witnesses of Jesus C...

The Promise of the Holy Spirit: Dwelling With and In Us

Image
*_The Promise of the Holy Spirit: Dwelling With and In Us_* Jesus, in His infinite wisdom and love, promised us a Helper, and that Helper is none other than the Holy Spirit. (John 14:16-17) It's essential to understand that our relationship with the Holy Spirit is twofold: He dwells with us and within us. Before we received Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit was already at work in our lives. He convicted us of our sinfulness, revealed our need for a Savior, and pointed us to Jesus Christ as the solution to our sin problem. The Holy Spirit drew us to surrender our lives to Jesus and receive His saving grace. The moment we surrendered to Jesus, the Holy Spirit came to dwell within us. As Paul eloquently stated, *"Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?"* (1 Corinthians 6:19). We belong to God, for we have been bought with the precious blood of Jesus Christ. Therefore, we are called to hono...

Following the Holy Spirit; Embracing Devotion to Scriptures

Image
*_Following the Holy Spirit: Embracing Devotion to Scripture_* The voice of the Holy Spirit serves as our guide, leading us into all truth and guiding us along the path of righteousness. Yet, to truly discern and heed His voice, we must be devoted to the Word of God, for it is through Scripture that the Spirit often speaks to us. Consider the words of the psalmist who declared, *"Your word I have hidden in my heart, that I might not sin against You"* (Psalm 119:11). The psalmist understood the profound impact of God's Word on our lives—it serves as a safeguard against sin and a source of wisdom and guidance. Moreover, the apostle Paul exhorts, *"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work"* (2 Timothy 3:16-17). Scripture is not merely a collection of ancient writings but the living Word of...

A Sobering Warning: The Grieving of the Holy Spirit

Image
*_A Sobering Warning: The Grieving of the Holy Spirit_* In the book of Isaiah, we find a sobering warning in Isaiah 63:10: *"But they rebelled and grieved His Holy Spirit; so He turned Himself against them as an enemy, and He fought against them."* These words echo with the weight of divine disappointment and the consequences of grieving the Spirit of God. Grieving the Holy Spirit is not merely an ancient concern, but a timeless one. The Holy Spirit is God's presence with us, our Comforter, our Guide, and our Teacher. When we grieve Him, we distance ourselves from the source of life and truth. This separation, as we see in Isaiah, can lead to a divine response that opposes us as if we were enemies. The warning is clear, and it is rooted in the consistent teaching of the Scriptures. In Ephesians 4:30, the apostle Paul cautions us, *"And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption."* The Holy Spirit is the seal upon th...

When God Comes Down: Expecting His Majestic Presence

Image
*_When God 'Comes Down': Expecting His Majestic Presence_* Reading from Isaiah 64, we are presented with a captivating image of Almighty God "coming down" in awesome and majestic ways. This passage invites us to explore the profound truth that, often when we least expect to encounter or hear from God, He surprises us with His presence and His voice. It is during these moments that breakthroughs occur, darkness dissipates, and the light of day shines through. Isaiah 64:1 begins with a heartfelt plea: *"Oh, that You would rend the heavens! That You would come down! That the mountains might shake at Your presence."* This verse reflects the yearning of our souls for divine intervention, for the mighty hand of God to shake the foundations of our circumstances. In our journey of faith, there are times when impatience and discouragement tempt us to wonder if God is able to help us. We may even lose our expectancy of His miraculous intervention. However, this pass...

The Holy Spirit: Convicting Hearts and Leading to Redemption

Image
*_The Holy Spirit: Convicting Hearts and Leading to Redemption_* In the divine plan of salvation, the Holy Spirit plays a crucial role in the lives of believers. One of His vital functions is to convict us of sin, righteousness, and judgment. As we open our hearts to God's Word, we come to understand the significance of the Holy Spirit's work in our lives. When we sin, the Holy Spirit convicts us of our wrongdoing. This conviction is not meant to condemn us but to draw us to God's grace and forgiveness. In John 16:8, Jesus Himself said, *"And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment."* The Holy Spirit shines a light on our transgressions, causing us to feel guilty of our sin. It is through this conviction that we realize our need for a Savior. The Spirit's conviction goes hand in hand with God's mercy and compassion. In 1 John 1:9, we find the comforting promise, *"If we confess our sins, He is faithf...

THE ANOINTING

Image
THE ANOINTING   Introduction: Generally, anointing is the ritual act of pouring aromatic oil over a person’s head or entire body. By extension, the term is also applied to related acts of sprinkling, dousing, or smearing a person or object with any perfumed oil, milk, butter or other fat. The tradition of anointing the king originated in the Middle East. Based on Old Testament writings, the ceremony symbolized that the king was God’s chosen representative on earth. Historically, consecrated oil was applied to the temples, forehead, breast and wrists of the sovereign to be crowned.   Widely common and accepted is the pouring of oil on people’s head/forehead. And so many have limited and restricted themselves to the symbolic anointing by oil which in most cases is done or performed by a priest.   In several places in the Bible, anointing was done with oil. Such are of Aaron and his sons as priests, Lev 6:20; 8:10-12; 10:7. Saul as king, 1 Sam 10:1. Davi...

The Spirit of God

Image
*The Spirit of God* 1 Corinthians 2:10 to 16  “God has revealed it to us by the Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God.  For who among men knows the thoughts of man except his own spirit within him? So too, no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.  We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.  And this is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom, but in words taught by the Spirit, expressing spiritual truths in spiritual words.  The natural man does not accept the things that come from the Spirit of God. For they are foolishness to him, and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.  The spiritual man judges all things, but he himself is not subject to anyone’s judgment. “For who has known the mind of the Lord, so as to instruct Him?” But we have the mind of Christ.” Ephesians 1:15 t...

Holy Spirit Manifestation

Image
The Holy Spirit of God has His own profound ways of manifestation in the life of a believer. These avenues are basically three (3) namely: 1.       The Gifts (Read 1 Corinthians 12 and 14, Ephesians 4:11,12). 2.       The Fruit (Read Galatians 5:22 and 1 Corinthians 13) 3.       The Signs (Read Mark 16:16-20; Luke 10:19 and Acts 1:8) Our Father in heaven so loves us that He always takes it upon Himself to search for man from the torrent of the world and works on us by His Spirit in getting us saved as believers. Even when we were an unbeliever, He did not give up on us in working for our salvation as He is still doing even up till now on every one that is yet to come to Christ (Romans 5: 6-8). He has never lost hope on anyone however bad he or she seems to be at present because of His unspeakable love for mankind. This is what God usually do until a man finally dies thus defying further remedy as t...

The Work of the Holy Spirit in a Believer

Image
“Howbeit, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak; and shall show you things to come.” -   John 16: 13. When a believer is filled with the Holy Spirit there are marvelous things He will begin to do in such a life. The prophets of old like Elijah, Elisha, Moses, Samuel, David, etc. were able to do exploit by this same Spirit of the Lord. This same Spirit is known as the Spirit of Christ in the New Testament as clearly stated in the Scriptural passages below: “Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow. Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things...
