STAND OUT!

Image
STAND OUT !   The world today is replete with evils and all kinds of criminal activities so much so that every country has its own taste and measure of the venom of implacable men and women. Many children are becoming more and more hardened in their hearts and disobedient. The present world is dominated by subverted humanistic thoughts, paedophiles false teachers, callous governments and wickedness against humanity. The high level of recalcitrance even in the Church has become very worrisome to many genuine spiritual leaders.     Consequently, the hitherto ardent Christians are becoming compromising and the Christian values are giving way to social vices and moral decadence. The level of corruption in our day is mind-boggling. Sometimes, corrupt men and women, criminals and looters are freer than the innocent!   “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil” – Ecclesiast...

Pressed to the Manger

Image
PRESSED TO THE MANGER “… and laid him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.” – Luke 2:7 Introduction: The story of man remained unchanged and the destiny portended doom for ever until there came a pressure of the crowd against a pregnant woman whose place was not found in the inn and a comfortable place. A pregnant woman received no mercy even at the point of delivery. Hence was pressed and pushed into a manger.   This pressure led to the delivery of Jesus in the manger. What an uncomfortable and unpleasant condition and situation! But God was up to something as it is often said that when man is down with something, God is up to something. The pressing of the orange is to bring out its sweetness.   Pressed on every side – 2 Corinthians 4:6-12, 16-18 (Read): Today, we have on our calendar, the Christmas Carol. The programme is essentially to be anchored by the choir and the Students’ Fellowship. However, the recent event of passing i...

PRESSING TOWARDS THE MARK – PHILIPPIANS 3:12-16   Introduction: Paul, the Apostle, with a very impressive pedigree – vs 4-6, and diverse experiences for the sake of the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ, made this statement in writing to the Philippian church. As a preacher Acts 9:19,29; 13:1; 14:14, he was stoned in Lystra Acts 14:8,19; persecuted at Philippi Acts 16, charged before the elders of Ephesus, Acts 20:17 and suffered so much - ! Cor 4:9; 2 Cor 11:23 yet, he could say “I press towards the mark”. His spiritual goal was to press towards the mark for prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus v 14. He did not get hung up on his mistakes and failures. Instead, he just asked God to forgive him and then he forgot about those things, because they were now covered by the blood of Jesus. He kept his eyes on the prize, and he went for it.   Pressing Towards the Mark: Brethren, the church is just a platform for us to use our gifts and calling (ministry) ...
