  LISTENING AND HEARING GOD – I SAMUEL 3:3-11   INTRODUCTION:   Some said that it is easier to hear than to listen. Given attention to listen is one of the hardest attitude. Hearing is easy because it does not demand the initiative and energy required in speaking or listening. James 1:19 is simple enough in principle but nearly impossible to live. How often we find out that we fail in the order of “quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger”. From this we see that to listen requires discipline which has to be cultivated over time. It requires effort and determination to form the habit.     In the last few hours, we have grieved and wondered why we are passing through a time like this. Sometimes we ask questions, the answers to which are either not forthcoming or satisfactory. Brethren, this time calls for sober reflections, right attitudes and utterances such that in it all,we shall not offend God.   Introduction: Our mother and relations are major part of the family. When in relationship, it is inevitable that couples interact with each other’s families. The bibles say in Genesis 2:23-24: A man and woman leave their birth families and begin a new a family, and they are to love and protect each other. A husband who allows his mother or relations to interfere with his marriage is not living up to the commandment given to husband in Ephesians 5:25-33. Boundaries need to be set and then held regardless of the resistance encountered. The reality is that people treat us the way we allow them to treat us. If we permit them to trample the sanctity of our family, then that is what they will do.
