Listening And Hearing God - I Samuel 3:3-11

Image
LISTENING AND HEARING GOD – I SAMUEL 3:3-11   INTRODUCTION:   Some said that it is easier to hear than to listen. Given attention to listen is one of the hardest attitude. Hearing is easy because it does not demand the initiative and energy required in speaking or listening. James 1:19 is simple enough in principle but nearly impossible to live. How often we find out that we fail in the order of “quick to hear, slow to speak, slow to anger”. From this we see that to listen requires discipline which has to be cultivated over time. It requires effort and determination to form the habit. The following out lays will serve as great help to becoming a good listener and hearer.   PART I 1.      Good Listening and Patience This is forming the habit to hear out a speaker before venturing to make a response. # It is not “a kind of listening with half an ear that presumes already to know what the other person has to say”. # It is not “an impa...

IN TIME LIKE THESE – 1 TIMOTHY 4:1-3

Image
In the last few hours, we have grieved and wondered why we are passing through a time like this. Sometimes we ask questions, the answers to which are either not forthcoming or satisfactory. Brethren, this time calls for sober reflections, right attitudes and utterances such that in it all,we shall not offend God. If there beany revelation, any dream, insight or specific instructions from God, we will be doing God’s bidding if shared and prayerfully handled rather than pocket discussions and expression of guilt where there is none. No doubt, we all have a call to wake up, gird our loins and with concerted efforts in prayers, encouragement and godly counsels we move forward in fulfilling the purpose and plans of God. Thus far, and sometimes, prophecies and revelations are share more privately than making them all inclusive.   It is no doubt that year in year out time is becoming tougher and challenges are increasing on all sides. The Spirit of God does not however leave...

We Are Made for Evangelism

Image
I WE ARE MADE FOR EVANGELISM: When Jesus called Peter, Andrew, James, and John to follow Him, He said He would make them fishers of men. He meant that they would go out and share the Good News of the Gospel so that others would come to Jesus for salvation. This is the same calling He has given each of us.  39 Matthew 28:18-20(NLT) Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.  Some people are Spiritually gifted in evangelism. They talk to everyone they meet about salvation. But we are all expected to reach out to our friends and neighbors with the love of Jesus. It is our obligation to witness to individuals in our circles for the purpose of bringing them into the Kingdom of God. We will be held accountable for the lost souls we neglected to share the Gospel with. Pastors carry an even greater r...

The Way to Salvation According to the Book of Romans

Image
𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗪𝗔𝗬 𝗧𝗢 𝗦𝗔𝗟𝗩𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗢𝗥𝗗𝗜𝗡𝗚 𝗧𝗢 𝗥𝗢𝗠𝗔𝗡𝗦! The Romans Road to salvation is a way of explaining the good news of salvation using verses from the Book of Romans. It is a simple yet powerful method of explaining why we need salvation, how God provided salvation, how we can receive salvation, and what are the results of salvation. The first verse on the Romans Road to salvation is Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." We have all sinned. We have all done things that are displeasing to God. There is no one who is innocent. Romans 3:10-18 gives a detailed picture of what sin looks like in our lives.  The second Scripture on the Romans Road to salvation, Romans 6:23, teaches us about the consequences of sin - "For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." The punishment that we have earned for our sins is death. Not just physical death, but eternal deat...

I Will Build My Church - Matthew16:13-19

Image
I Will Build My Church – Matthew 16:13-19   We are living at a very crucial time when it appears the devil has taken over the stage. All over the world, news of crises and criminal activities pervade the whole atmosphere. For those who have the spiritual insight and understanding of time, the whole arsenal of the devil is directed at the church moreso, when the coming of the Lord is nearer than before. Nevertheless, the plan and purpose of God cannot but come to pass. The Lord’s words cannot go out without being fulfilled that “…I will build my Church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it”. Amen.   The church, that is, the Body of Christ, does not belong to anybody hence; Jesus said “…I will build my church…” No man or woman who has by His grace become, a building block and precious stone in the Body of Christ, can lay claim to the church. We have become a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people, that we should show...

Husband's Attitude to Relation

Image
Introduction: Our mother and relations are major part of the family. When in relationship, it is inevitable that couples interact with each other’s families. The bibles say in Genesis 2:23-24: A man and woman leave their birth families and begin a new a family, and they are to love and protect each other. A husband who allows his mother or relations to interfere with his marriage is not living up to the commandment given to husband in Ephesians 5:25-33. Boundaries need to be set and then held regardless of the resistance encountered. The reality is that people treat us the way we allow them to treat us. If we permit them to trample the sanctity of our family, then that is what they will do. No one, not even our mother or relations has the right to invade the privacy of our home, and it is the responsibility of the husband to guard the privacy. We should take the lead in gently but firmly explaining to our mother or relations what they are doing that is over the line and assuring ...
