The Narrow Path to the Cross

Image
*_The Narrow Path to the Cross_* In the Gospel accounts, we witness a significant pattern in Jesus' ministry: the crowds that followed Him diminished as the journey to the cross unfolded. While thousands witnessed the miracles and were fed, only a fraction continued to follow Jesus closely. As the trials intensified, the numbers dwindled, revealing the challenging truth that the closer one draws to the cross, the smaller the crowd becomes. Jesus feeding the 5000 is a powerful demonstration of His compassion and provision for the physical needs of His followers (Matthew 14:13-21). Yet, despite witnessing this miracle, many followed Jesus for the wrong reasons – seeking physical satisfaction and sensational signs rather than recognizing Him as the Messiah. As Jesus began to reveal the spiritual depth of His teachings, the number of followers decreased. In John 6:66-67, we read, *"From that time many of His disciples went back and walked with Him no more. Then Jesus said to the...

Allowing the Holy Spirit to Shape Your Marriage

Image
*_Allowing the Holy Spirit to Shape Your Marriage_* Our personalities play a significant role in how we relate to others, including our spouse in marriage. Many personality traits can be expressed through contrasting words such as optimistic or pessimistic, critical or complimentary, extroverted or introverted, patient or impatient. *While our personalities may be developed in childhood, they are not fixed; we have the capacity to change and grow.* In marriage, our personalities can either be an asset or a liability. For example, if I tend to withdraw and remain silent, it may hinder open communication with my spouse. In contrast, if I learn to share my feelings and thoughts, it can improve our connection. Similarly, a critical attitude can harm my spouse's spirit, but I can choose to break that pattern and learn to give compliments instead. The Bible teaches that God loves us as we are, but His love also motivates us to grow and change. *We are not meant to be controlled solely ...

Embracing Singleness: Growing Closer to God in the Waiting

Image
*_Embracing Singleness: Growing Closer to God in the Waiting_* If you find yourself in a season of singleness, know that God has a purpose for this time in your life. Loneliness can be challenging, but it can also serve as an opportunity to draw closer to the Lord and grow in your faith. Embrace this time as a chance to become the person God wants you to be while waiting for the right person He has prepared for you. It's essential to be aware that Satan may try to exploit your feelings of loneliness to distract you and lead you astray. *Temptations may arise, but remember that God is with you and will provide a way out* (1 Corinthians 10:13). *Don't let impatience or insecurity lead you to settle for an unequally yoked relationship.* Trust in God's timing and plan, for He knows what is best for you. Use this season of singleness to seek the Lord wholeheartedly. Matthew 6:33 reminds us to *"seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shal...

All Glory for Him Alone

Image
*_All Glory for Him Alone_* *"Shall the ax boast itself against him who chops with it? Or shall the saw exalt itself against him who saws with it?.."* ~Isaiah 10:15 In other words, the instrument should never seek to take glory in itself. The glory should go to the one who uses the instrument, for the instrument by itself can do nothing. All I can be is an instrument in the hand of God. Anything that comes forth of any value out of my life I cannot take credit for it. I am only an instrument, and if God's hand isn't upon me, if God isn't using me, then whatever I do is absolutely worthless and useless. Therefore, it would be totally wrong and foolish for me to try to take credit for anything that God has given, because at best I am only an instrument in the hand of God. And the glory and the credit to whatever has been accomplished should always go to God, never to the instrument. It is only an instrument and nothing more. Your life is just an instrument in the ...

Finding Faith in the Midst of Unfairness

Image
*_Finding Faith in the Midst of Unfairness_* Life often presents us with circumstances that seem unfair and beyond our control. We may question why we were born into dysfunctional families or why we have suffered abuses and injustices. It's challenging to turn to God as the source of restoration when His demands seem unreasonable in light of our experiences. In the face of these struggles, we can find solace in the story of Job. Like us, Job wrestled with profound questions and doubts. In Job 14:1-4, he asked, *"Who can bring a clean thing out of an unclean? No one!"* These questions reflect the deep longing for understanding that many of us have encountered. Despite his doubts, Job remained persistent in seeking God. The answer to Job's questions lies in the willingness to persevere through life's unfairness and continue seeking God. Jeremiah 29:13 assures us, *"And you will seek Me and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart."* God invites u...

The Day of the Lord: Great and Glorious or Awesome and Terrible?

Image
*_The Day of the Lord: Great and Glorious or Awesome and Terrible?_* In 2 Peter 3:10, the apostle Peter tells us about the Day of the Lord, a day that is both greatly anticipated and feared. The prophet Joel had also described it as an *"awesome, terrible thing"* in Joel 2:11. So, which will it be—great and glorious or awesome and terrible? The answer lies in our relationship with Jesus Christ. For those who have put their faith in Jesus and are safe and secure in His salvation, the Day of the Lord will be a time of great rejoicing. Peter, preaching in Jerusalem, referred to it as *"that great and glorious day of the Lord"* (Acts 2:20). On that day, we will be ushered into the fullness of God's presence and experience the eternal joy and glory of being with Him. However, for those who have not accepted Jesus as their Savior, the Day of the Lord will be a day of awesome and terrifying judgment. *Scripture warns that the ungodly will face the righteous wrath of ...

From Guilt to Grace: Embracing God's Forgiveness and Restoration

Image
*_From Guilt to Grace: Embracing God's Forgiveness and Restoration_* Have you ever felt the weight of guilt and shame after stumbling into sin? In those moments, it can be tempting to run away from God, believing that our mistakes are too great for His forgiveness. But I want to encourage you today not to run away from Him but to run towards Him in repentance and seek His forgiveness and restoration. In 1 John 1:9, we find the beautiful promise that *"If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."* Our Heavenly Father is loving and compassionate, always ready to forgive us when we come to Him with a contrite heart. He longs to restore us to a place of fellowship and intimacy with Him, despite our failures. Running away from God in times of sin can have severe consequences. In Jonah's story, when he ran away from God's calling, he faced storms, isolation, and distress until he humbled himself an...

The Sinners' Prayer: A Gateway to Faith, Repentance, and Discipleship

Image
*_The Sinners Prayer: A Gateway to Faith, Repentance, and Discipleship_* The Sinners Prayer is a heartfelt expression of faith and a crucial step in responding to the good news of Jesus Christ. However, it is vital to understand that it is not a magical ritual that guarantees salvation in and of itself. Rather, it serves as a channel for individuals to respond to God's invitation to come to Him through faith in Christ. The Apostle Paul tells us in Romans 10:9-10, *"that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth, confession is made unto salvation."* The sinners prayer is an expression of this confession and belief in Christ, but it must be followed by genuine repentance. Luke 13:3 reminds us, *"I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish."* Repentance is a turning away from sin and ...

Abiding in Christ: Finding Fruitfulness Through Surrender

Image
*_Abiding in Christ: Finding Fruitfulness through Surrender_* In our journey of faith, it is crucial to recognize the limitations of our humanity and understand that *without Jesus, we can do nothing.* The Scriptures emphasize the significance of abiding in Christ, surrendering our self-sufficiency, and experiencing true fruitfulness through Him. In John 15:5, Jesus declares, *"I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me, you can do nothing."* This powerful truth reminds us that relying solely on our own strength and understanding leads to unfruitfulness and unfulfillment.  Abiding in Christ is not a mere spiritual discipline; it is a vital relationship. It means staying connected to Him like branches are connected to a vine. This intimate connection allows us to draw strength, wisdom, and life from Him. When we remain in Christ, we are empowered by His Spirit, leading to fruitful and purposeful lives. Acknowledging...

The Crossroad of Decision: Choosing Between Christ and Idols

Image
*_The Crossroad of Decision: Choosing Between Christ and Idols_* Mark 10:22 *"But he was sad at this word, and went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions."* In Mark 10:22, we encounter the heartbreaking story of the rich young ruler who came to Jesus seeking eternal life. He had followed the commandments diligently, but when Jesus challenged him to sell all his possessions and give to the poor, the man's face fell, and he walked away sorrowful. This encounter reveals a profound truth: we all face a crossroad of decision in our lives where we must choose between following Christ wholeheartedly or allowing something or someone else to become our idol. Idols can take various forms—wealth, success, relationships, or even our own self-sufficiency. They can captivate our hearts, causing us to prioritize them over our relationship with God. However, *Jesus makes it clear that we must take up our cross and follow Him* (Mark 10:21). The cross represents self-denial, surre...

Honoring Love: Speaking With Respect in Marriage

Image
*_Honoring Love: Speaking with Respect in Marriage_* Marriage is a sacred covenant established by God, where two individuals become one flesh and vow to love, honor, and cherish each other. Within this bond, effective communication plays a vital role in maintaining a strong and harmonious relationship. However, sometimes in the heat of annoyance or frustration, couples may be tempted to speak disrespectfully to one another. Yet, the Bible reminds us that love is patient and kind (1 Corinthians 13:4), and *our words should reflect the love and respect we have for our spouse.* Proverbs 15:1 advises, *"A soft answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger."* Speaking disrespectfully not only escalates conflict but also erodes the foundation of trust and intimacy in a marriage. When we allow our emotions to control our words, we risk causing lasting damage to the connection between husband and wife. Ephesians 4:29 guides us in our speech, *"Let no corrupt word pr...

Guiding Against the Devil's Foothold: Embracing God's Protection

Image
*_Guarding Against the Devil's Foothold: Embracing God's Protection_* The Bible warns us to be vigilant and watchful against the schemes of the devil. *The devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour* (1 Peter 5:8). *He is relentless in his pursuit to steal, kill, and destroy* (John 10:10). Thus, we must remain steadfast in our faith and guard against giving him a foothold in our lives and families through sin. *The devil is cunning and crafty, always seeking to exploit our weaknesses and tempt us to sin* (Ephesians 6:11). He tests our hearts and limits, searching for the most enticing temptations to draw us away from God's path. *Therefore, we must be sober-minded and alert, resisting him with the armor of God's truth, righteousness, faith, and salvation* (Ephesians 6:13-17). In times of weakness or vulnerability, the devil may use subtle lies or deceit to plant seeds of doubt or compromise. He may tempt us with worldly pleasures or entice us ...

Signs of the End-time

Image
SIGNS OF THE END-TIME Mt 24:8-35; 36-44   Introduction: Today, the world is replete with events and happenings that are not only strange but also terrifying. Several strange signs are beginning to appear globally. Sometimes, some of these beat the scientific positions and claims. The world is caught up, in the web of myth and mystery. Coming with this, are all kinds of prophecies acclaimed to be true and divine and which in many cases are found not only to be biblically baseless but also false.   We are indeed, in the era of falsehood and deception leading people to a state of confusion and directionless.   If Christ had not foretold of the signs of the end-time, even believers too would have been in a state of bewilderment. Again, by these events, some have even prophesied/predicted the end of the world. But thank God, Jesus Himself said: “But about the day or hour no one knows not even the angels in heaven; nor the Son but only my Father. As it was in the day of ...

The Unchanging God: Our Source of Security and Joy

Image
*_The Unchanging God: Our Source of Security and Joy_* Life is a fleeting vapor, and people will change. In our journey through this world, we will encounter joys and sorrows, victories and disappointments, and relationships that might leave us hurt and broken. However, amidst the uncertainties and changes of life, we can find our refuge and strength in the unchanging nature of our God. Our God remains constant throughout the ages. *He is the same yesterday, today, and forever* (Hebrews 13:8). In a world that is ever-changing, *His faithfulness and steadfast love endure forever* (Psalm 136:1). *The Lord is our rock, our fortress, and our deliverer, and in Him, we find our security and stability* (Psalm 18:2). When life's trials and challenges come, we can trust in the unchanging character of God. *He is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble* (Psalm 46:1). In times of distress, *we can turn to Him and find comfort in His arms* (Isaiah 66:13). Moreover, the Lord i...

The Consequence of Hardening Our Hearts: A Sobering Warning from Proverbs

Image
*_The Consequence of Hardening Our Hearts: A Sobering Warning from Proverbs_* *"He who is often rebuked, and hardens his neck, will suddenly be destroyed, and that without remedy."* Proverbs 29:1 From this verse above, we come across a heavy and sobering message. It speaks of the person who repeatedly receives rebuke from God but chooses to harden their heart, refusing to heed His correction. Have you ever experienced God's rebuke? How many times has He lovingly called you out for your sinful ways, trying to lead you onto the path of righteousness? Yet, despite God's merciful rebuke, there are those who persist in their rebellion. They ignore His warnings, continuing in their wickedness and disobedience. But we must understand the consequence of such a hardened heart. The verse warns that sudden destruction awaits those who reject God's rebuke, and it will come without any remedy. It is a solemn truth that we cannot overlook. When God, in His grace and love, cor...

Walking Through Trials With Assurance: God's Unwavering Presence

Image
*_Walking Through Trials with Assurance: God's Unwavering Presence_* *"And He said, 'My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.'"* ~Exodus 33:14 To all those who are facing difficult times and trials, take heart and find comfort in the assurance that God's presence is with you. In moments of joblessness, health challenges, and marital difficulties, it is natural to feel overwhelmed and burdened. However, remember that you are not alone in your struggles. In Exodus 33, Moses was facing the daunting task of leading the Israelites through the wilderness. In the midst of his uncertainty and weariness, God reassured Moses of His constant presence and promised to give him rest. Similarly, God extends the same promise to each one of us today. When you feel discouraged in your job search, remember that God is with you, guiding your steps and opening doors of opportunity. When health issues weigh you down, know that God is your healer, providing strength...

Jesus Sees You in the Storm

Image
*_Jesus Sees You in the Storm_* *"Then He saw them straining at rowing, for the wind was against them.."* ♡Mark 6:48♡ In the Book of Mark, we come across a powerful account of the disciples finding themselves in the midst of a fierce storm. As they struggled against the winds and waves, Jesus saw their desperate situation.  Today, I want to remind you that just as Jesus saw the disciples in their distress, He sees you in the midst of your storm. Whatever you may be facing right now, Jesus knows, Jesus cares, and He is with you. Even if you cannot see Him in your boat, He sees you. It's important to understand that you are never out of God's sight. He is aware of every challenge, every struggle, and every trial that you encounter. Jesus is not only aware of your situation, but He is also more powerful than anything that comes against you. He is your refuge, your strength, and your very present help in times of need. In the story, Jesus approached the disciples in the...

Looking Beyond the Storm: Persevering With Faith and Hope

Image
*_Looking Beyond the Storm: Persevering with Faith and Hope_* In times of hardship and trials, it can be difficult to see beyond the pain and uncertainty. But take heart, for our hope rests in the promises of God. Even in the midst of our struggles, we are reminded that our ultimate victory awaits us when we see Christ face to face.  Though we may face trials in this world, we can find comfort in knowing that God is with us every step of the way. He is faithful and will never leave us nor forsake us. As we trust in Him and remain faithful, He will carry us through the storms of life. Let us draw strength from the assurance of God's word. Romans 8:18 reminds us that *"the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us."* And in Revelation 21:4, we find the promise that *"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the f...

Restoring Trust and Finding Hope in God's Faithfulness

Image
*_Restoring Trust and Finding Hope in God's Faithfulness_* In life, we may experience moments of pain, betrayal, and broken trust. These moments can be especially challenging when they occur within the sacred bond of marriage. The weight of disappointment and heartache can be overwhelming, and it may feel like there is no way forward. However, in the midst of our pain, we must remember that we serve an unchanging God, whose love and faithfulness endure forever. In times of hurt and broken trust, it is natural to question our worth and wonder if we are alone in our struggles. But take heart, for our Heavenly Father reminds us that our names are written in heaven. In Luke 10:20, Jesus assures us, *"Nevertheless do not rejoice in this, that the spirits are subject to you, but rather rejoice because your names are written in heaven."* Though people may fail us, God remains steadfast and true. *He is the One who will never abandon or forsake us* (Deuteronomy 31:6). Even when...

Committing Your Future to God: Finding Security in Uncertain Times

Image
*_Committing Your Future to God: Finding Security in Uncertain Times_* ♡Proverbs 16♡ Many individuals experience doubts and fear when it comes to the prospect of marriage. The idea of committing to someone for the rest of their lives can be overwhelming, especially considering the uncertainty of the future and the prevalence of failed marriages. It's understandable that brides and grooms may question whether their own marriage will endure. However, attempting to predict the future is impossible. Instead, we should turn to the wisdom found in Proverbs 16, which offers guidance on how to approach our future by committing our ways to the Lord. Reading from Proverbs 16, we discover valuable insights on making plans, addressing pride, conducting fair business practices, using uplifting words, and strengthening friendships. Proverbs 16:3 advises us, *"Commit your works to the Lord, and your thoughts will be established."* But what does it mean to commit our actions to the Lor...

Even So Come: Longing for the Glorious Return of Jesus

Image
*_Even So Come: Longing for the Glorious Return of Jesus_* In the depths of our hearts, there is a longing, a yearning for the glorious return of our King. Like a bride eagerly waiting for her groom, we, the Church, anticipate that moment when our Lord Jesus Christ will come again. Our souls cry out, *"Even so come, Lord Jesus, come!"* We are a people who believe in the promise of His coming. We hold on to the assurance that there will be a day of justice, when all things will be made new. The name of Jesus will resound throughout eternity, forever faithful and true. In the midst of a world filled with challenges and uncertainties, we find hope and solace in the imminent return of our Savior. The Bible affirms our longing and hope. In Revelation 22:20, Jesus declares, *"Surely I am coming quickly."* We are encouraged by the words of 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, which reminds us that *one day the trumpet will sound, and we will be caught up together with Him in the clo...

Exercising Towards Godliness: Discerning the True Path

Image
Exercising Towards Godliness: Discerning the True Path_* *But reject profane and old wives' fables, and exercise yourself toward godliness.* ~1 Tim 4:7 From this verse, the Apostle Paul reminds us of the importance of pursuing godliness in our lives and discerning the truth from falsehood. In a world filled with various teachings and beliefs, it is crucial for us to discern what is true and align our lives with God's Word. Proverbs 3:5-6 reminds us, *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."* By placing our trust in God and seeking His guidance through prayer and studying His Word, we can discern the truth from the falsehoods that may surround us. In our pursuit of godliness, we are called to live by the principles and teachings of the Bible. 2 Timothy 3:16-17 affirms this, stating, *"All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctri...

Help From Above

Image
*My help comes from the LORD,* *Who made heaven and earth.* ~Psalm 121:2 It is often important that we classify God with this kind of a classification, for our own sake, so we will identify the God that we are talking about. There are many who worship the god of pleasure, the god of power, the god of different things. But the God that we worship is the only true, eternal God who has created the heaven and the earth, the living God. So, *"where does my help comes from? My help comes from the LORD, Who made heaven and earth."* There are so many times that we become so overpowered by our problems that we neglect to realize the great power of God. I'm so overwhelmed. This problem is so big. What am I going to do? And I just get overwhelmed by my difficulties. Until I realize the greatness of the power of the God I serve. In the New Testament when the disciples had been beaten and told not to witness anymore in the name of Jesus, it said, *"they went to their own compan...

Faith on Solid Ground: Embracing God's Goodness in Uncertain Times

Image
*_Faith on Solid Ground: Embracing God's Goodness in Uncertain Times_* *Truly God is good* to Israel, To such as are pure in heart. ~Psalm 73:1 It is important that we have basic foundational truths that we can hold on to. Because all of us are going to face experiences in life that we will not understand. Hard and painful experiences that will challenge God's goodness and God's love. If God is good, then why did God allow this tragedy to happen to me? If God loves me, then why would He allow me to experience this heartache? The truth is that we can't understand why certain things happened in our life. We need to make it a practice, whenever we are faced with a situation that we cannot understand, we fall back on what we do understand. And what I do understand is that God is good, that God loves me, and that all things are working together for good to those who love God. And thus, by faith I accept my adverse circumstances. Though I don't understand them, I accept...

The Significance of Conviction: God's Call to Repentance

Image
*_The Significance of Conviction: God's Call to Repentance_* Conviction is a powerful force that tugs at our hearts and minds when we have done wrong or said hurtful things. It is that inner voice warning us before we act, a gentle nudge from God's Spirit, guiding us to righteousness. When we ignore this prompting and give in to temptation, we experience guilt, shame, and regret. It is essential to recognize that these convictions come from a loving God who desires our well-being and longs to draw us close to Him. God's Word reminds us in 1 John 2:1, *"My little children, these things I write to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous."* God's warning comes out of His immense love for us, seeking to protect us from harm and steer us away from destructive paths. Sadly, not everyone responds to convictions. *Some people's hearts have become hardened, and their consciences are seared w...

God in Our Challenges

Image
*"The righteous cry out, and the LORD hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The LORD is near to those who have a broken heart and saves such as have a contrite spirit."*  ♡Psalm 34:17-18♡ Life is full of challenges and circumstances that can leave us feeling overwhelmed and burdened. It could be the loss of a loved one, financial struggles, broken relationships, health issues, or the weight of our own mistakes and shortcomings. These things can weigh heavily on our hearts, causing pain, sadness, and despair. However, in the midst of our trials, we can take comfort in knowing that God is with us. He sees our tears, hears our cries, and is near to those with broken hearts. He is not distant or indifferent to our pain. Instead, He extends His hand of deliverance and salvation to those who turn to Him with a contrite spirit. When we feel overwhelmed, we can find solace in the arms of our loving Heavenly Father. He is our refuge, our source of strength, and our eve...

Appreciating the Value of Truth-Tellers in Your Life

Image
*_Appreciating the Value of Truth-Tellers in Your Life_* It is a rare and precious gift to have people in our lives who are willing to tell us the hard truth, especially when we are oblivious to our own misguided paths. These truth-tellers have a discerning eye and a caring heart that prompts them to sound the alarm when they see us veering off course. In Proverbs 27:6, we read, *"Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful."* These individuals are not motivated by malice but by genuine concern for our well-being. We should never take these truth-tellers for granted or despise their warnings. Their willingness to confront us with uncomfortable truths demonstrates their love and commitment to our growth. Proverbs 15:31 reminds us, *"The ear that hears the rebukes of life will abide among the wise."* When we humbly receive their admonition, we position ourselves for wisdom and growth. Humility is essential when receiving correction ...

Embracing God's Sovereignty in Our Weakness

Image
*_Embracing God's Sovereignty in Our Weakness_* *"Who has made man's mouth? Or who makes the mute, the deaf, the seeing, or the blind? Have not I, the LORD?"*  ~Exodus 4:11 This verse brings to light a reality that may unsettle our preconceived notions about God's role in sickness and infirmity. As we explore this topic, may we seek a deeper understanding of God's sovereignty and find comfort in His plans. In our search for answers, we may encounter teachings that proclaim God will always heal or that God does not create sickness or infirmity. While these perspectives offer comfort and hope, we must also acknowledge the biblical truth that challenges these ideas. Exodus 4:11 reminds us that God is the ultimate Creator and has the authority to shape our lives in various ways, including the presence of physical ailments. Throughout the Bible, we witness instances where God allows or even causes sickness and infirmity for His purposes. In Exodus 15:26, the Lord...
