THEY GO FROM STRENGTH TO STRENGTH – PSALMS 84:5-7

Introduction:

We give all the glory to God who spared our lives to see this day as we celebrate the 21st Anniversary of this noble Society. We also thank God for the leadership (past and present) of the society and we pray that the legacy they are laying will endure to the glory of God.

We know that this society is primarily set up to take members to a high and comfortable level of economic life. However, a comfortable economic level cannot be achieved without a sound spiritual base. No wonder, the association does not only focus on financial viability of members but also the spiritual soundness of members.

While thanking God for the opportunity given by the Executive to me to give this charge, my prayer is that the Lord will grant all of us long life and prosperity and as we count our years, our years will count for the Lord.

Therefore, if there is any topic that I consider to be suitable for this occasion it is:

“They Go from Strength to Strength” – Psalms 84:5-7

“Blessed are they that dwell in thy house: They will be still praising thee. Blessed is the man whose strength is in thee, whose heart are the ways of thee. Who passing through the valley Baca make it a well; the rain also filleth the pools. They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God”.

It is said that man is a product of strength. For in the conception of a baby, several millions of spermatozoa (these are cells) are released each with strength struggling to hit the target and it is only one that by surpassing strength beats others to hit the goal. So, we are products of strength!

Indeed, these are days of waning strength occasioned by a number of factors including economic hardship and various forms of life adversity. Fainting in the day of adversity is a reflection of small strength – Prov 24:10. My prayer is that we shall not fail or faint in the present circumstances we have found ourselves.

Of course, God’s promises for us are inexhaustible and they cannot fail for faithful is Him who has promised and who will fulfill it – Heb 10:23; 1 Kgs 8:56; Num 23:19; Ps 77:8. He has promised to strengthen and help us – Ps 37:17; 84:11; 94:14; Isa 25:8; 30:18; 40:29 & 41:10. He is the strength of our life. Ps 27:1; 46:1; 68:35 & 73:26.

Truly, some of us might have suffered some setbacks in business in the recent past, God’s assurance of help and supply of strength cannot fail. How do I receive strength in this circumstance?

1.     Always be joyful in the Lord – The joy of the Lord is your strength – Neh 8:10

2.     Faith in the Lord – Ps 46:1; Lk 1:37; Jer 32:17-27

3.     Trust in the Lord – Ps 125:1

4.     Waiting patiently on God – Ps 40:1-2; Isa 40:31

5.     Remembering your past victories wrought by Him – Ps 44:1-8

6.     Remembering the awesomeness of His power to change all things

7.     Remembering He will not leave or forsake you – Heb 13:5

8.     Fellowship with others – Heb 10:24-25

9.     Prayer of agreement with others – Mt 18:19

10.                        Thanksgiving – Ps 100; I Thes 5:16-19

If we do all these our strength shall be renewed, “For with God, nothing will be impossible.” Lk 1:37. These are the sources of our strength.
