THE MARKET PLACE MINISTRY

We all have a place of work. Our place of work is our place and platform for our ministry. For we’ve separated our ministry and our daily work from our spiritual responsibility – secular and spiritual whereas, the two are unseparatable cannot be separated except we are saying we are two different person or personality. Brother Philips – experienced – office to get a catmint.

Why is the marketplace important or a place of ministry? Our work is where we earn our living, provide for our families and spend some 67% of our working time.  Monday – Friday. It is also where we meet with Christians the most.

-         On Sunday – abt 40million Christians attend church – not much impact on our business life. Many Christians are lazy, difficult employees.

1.     We must have a positive attitude i.e. a way of looking at life, which should follow the footsteps of Jesus Christ if we must shine. The way we think, feel and act. Things may not all be smooth – in the family, poor pay, hostile environment, yet a positive attitude is to thank God for many are outside there without a job! If you think your job is stressful, try unemployment. Keep a happy and healthy smile. Look at your job with kind eyes.

2.     Be productive in your activity – Be fruitful and beneficial in your assignment in the organization. If you excel, it will give glory to God. Some cannot count what they have contributed to the growth of their organization very serious. Some people are running about as pastors, church leader, deacons and lay leaders in our churches yet, are fully paid employees in our organizations and establishments. Some of these are lecturers in our schools and colleges, medical doctors, bank managers etc. they are never at work, in the lecture halls to teach, observe their clinic days to see and administer drugs to their patients as doctors. They are busy running from one church programme, one conference or the other. Ask them who made them pastors – their general overseers – not Go! Why not resign and then pursue the pastor work – students, bosses complain over their absence and multiple excuses from work but when query comes, they start binding the devil that was never a factor in the process.

3.     Be Professional in Your Activity:

A professional is someone who exhibits skill and expertise in doing something. A person who possesses a personal body of knowledge and know-how which is recognized and valued by the market. Whatever you have to do, get better in doing it. Don’t keep doing the same thing, the same way you always do it. Be a professional by seeking out new ways of doing it better. Take courses, attend conferences, seminars and workshops.  Subscribe to journals, read articles. Believe you can do it, believe you have a responsibility. Light is self-announcing. What you do is what talks about you more than what you say – shine as light of God.
