We Are Made for Obedience

WE ARE MADE FOR OBEDIENCE:

We prove our love for God, and His Lordship in our lives, by our obedience. We cannot call Him Lord, while we say, ”No” to His guidance. Christ is either Lord of all, or He is not Lord at all. We cannot give Him control of part of our lives while holding on to the rest. IT’S ALL OR NOTHING. We are either all in, or we are all out. There is no such thing as half-hearted surrender to the Lordship of Christ.

Are we immediate in our response to the Spirit’s nudging or do we have to be prompted several times before we act?

Are we swift in confessing sin when we are convicted?

Are we quick to take ownership of our behavior and ask for forgiveness when we have offended someone?

The degree to which we are surrendered to the Lordship of Christ will be revealed in the manner in which we respond to the commands of God in Scripture. What may be ok behavior for the average believer, may not be acceptable for the leadership of Christ’s ministry.

Are we firm in what is right and wrong for us, or do we wander into gray areas. Deceitful motives and actions are not glorifying to God, even if it is for a good cause. And soiled money has no place on the offering plate or in use for Christ’s ministry.

God would rather have our obedience, than our sacrifices of time, energy, service, or money.

26 1 Samuel 15:22(NIV)

But Samuel replied: "Does the Lord delight in burnt offerings and sacrifice as much as in obeying the Lord? To obey is better than sacrifice, and to heed is better than the fat of rams.

2 Corinthians 9:13(NIV)

Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

27 2 John 1:6(NIV)

And this is love:

that we walk in obedience to his commands.

As you have heard from the beginning,

his command is that you walk in love.
