Investing in Children: A Biblical Perspective

*_Investing in Children: A Biblical Perspective_*

2 Corinthians 12:14

*"For the children ought not to lay up for the parents, but the parents for the children."*

This verse speaks to the responsibility of parents to care for and invest in their children without expecting any returns or repayment.

As parents, it is our duty to raise our children in the fear of the Lord and to provide for their physical, emotional, and spiritual needs. This is not a task to be taken lightly, as it requires sacrifice and selflessness. However, we should not view this as a burden or a transactional relationship. Our investment in our children should be motivated by love and a desire to see them thrive and fulfill their God-given potential.

Proverbs 22:6 says, *"Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it."* This verse emphasizes the importance of laying a foundation of faith and values in our children's lives, which will bear fruit in the future.

Psalm 127:3 also reminds us that *"Children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb is a reward."* Our children are a precious gift from God, and we should view our role as stewards of their lives with gratitude and humility.

As we invest in our children, we should not be looking for immediate returns or seeking to use them to fulfill our own desires or ambitions. Rather, our focus should be on equipping them to fulfill God's purposes for their lives and to be a blessing to others. This may involve making sacrifices and putting our own desires aside, but the rewards of seeing our children grow and thrive in their relationship with God and with others are immeasurable.

In summary, parents should not expect returns when investing in their children, but rather should be motivated by love and a desire to see them thrive. Let us embrace the privilege and responsibility of raising the next generation with humility, selflessness, and faith, trusting in God to guide and sustain us along the way.
