A Call to Submit to the Word of God
A Call to Submit to the Word of God_*
The Bible reveals to us the powerful and deceptive nature of Satan, who was able to deceive a third of the angels that were in the very presence of God. This astounding truth should awaken us to the immense power that Satan wields over those who do not submit to the Word of God. It serves as a stark reminder of the spiritual battle we face and the importance of aligning our lives with the truth of God's Word.
In the book of Revelation, we gain insight into this sobering reality. Revelation 12:4 describes how the dragon, representing Satan, drew a third of the stars of heaven and threw them to the earth. These fallen angels, once in the presence of God, were deceived and swayed by the cunning tactics of the enemy. This serves as a profound illustration of Satan's ability to deceive even the most elevated beings.
If Satan could deceive angels who were in the very presence of God, how much more vulnerable are we as mere men and women? The power and influence that Satan exerts over those who do not submit to the Word of God is truly a sobering thought. It highlights the importance of recognizing our need for God's truth, wisdom, and guidance in our lives.
The Apostle Paul warns us about the deceptive schemes of Satan in 2 Corinthians 11:14, stating that *"Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light."* The enemy is skilled at disguising himself, presenting falsehoods as truth and leading people astray. Without the foundation of God's Word, we become susceptible to his deceptions and manipulations.
However, we are not left defenseless in this spiritual battle. The Word of God is our ultimate weapon against the schemes of the enemy. Hebrews 4:12 tells us, *"For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword."* It is through the truth of God's Word that we can discern the lies of the enemy and stand firm in our faith.
Submitting to the Word of God is not merely a suggestion, but a vital necessity. James 4:7 reminds us, *"Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you."* When we align ourselves with God's truth, we resist the deceptions of the enemy, and he loses his grip on our lives.
As believers, we must not underestimate the power and influence of Satan. Yet, we can find comfort and strength in the fact that greater is He who is in us than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). By submitting to the Word of God, we tap into the power and authority that comes from our relationship with Jesus Christ.
Let us be vigilant, rooted in the Word of God, and equipped with the armor of God (Ephesians 6:11-18). Through prayer, study, and obedience to His Word, we can overcome the deceptions of the enemy and walk in the victorious life that God has prepared for us.
May we never underestimate the power of Satan, but may we always remember the greater power and authority we have in Christ. Let us submit ourselves to the Word of God, recognizing its transformative power in our lives, and standing firm against the deceptive schemes of the enemy.
