Ask Whatever You Wish, And it Will be Granted

*Ask whatever you wish, and it will be granted.*

I believed many of us, especially when we are _young_ to the Word, would have claim this verse John 15:7, with a blank cheque mindset. And, some of us would have even combined it with Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given.”

Then, the reality sets in. We asked God, “where is it? When is it coming? I did _all_ you said, yet I am still struggling with the “lack” of it. Why God? What have I not done? Tell me God .. tell me…”

My friends. God’s Word is precise. Hebrews 4:12 _“For the word of God is living and active, and sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating even as far as the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrows, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”_

So, when you pray to God, when you talk to Him, when you quote Him, you need to learn to be *precise* too.

Do not half-quote, mis-quote and worst quoting it out of context. Read the entire paragraph, study the original meaning of the Word in Hebrew or in Greek.

John 15:7 _“If you abide in Me and My words abide in you, you shall ask whatever you wish, and to you it will come to pass.”_

And Matthew 7:7 _“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and it will be opened unto you.”_

Both verses in the original text is in Greek. “Abide” in the Greek means *“to stay and to remain”*. “Ask” in the Greek means *“request, petition”.*

We need to *first* stay and remain in Him, _AND_, His words to stay and remain in you. Only when we meet this first condition, then you are *righteously* positioned to “ask”.

Stay and remain in the believe of His Finished Works on the Cross. Stay and remain in the knowledge of Him as the Resurrected Christ, the beloved Son of God.

Next, His Word which is Jesus himself to abide in you. How?Immerse yourself daily into His Word. That’s the only way for His Word to remain in you.

Think of a pail of water as the word. And you are a dry piece of cloth. How would the cloth be soaked with the water if you don’t fully submerged into the water? And you need to do that “dunking” a few times so that the piece of cloth is completely soaking wet and dripping with the water.

Same to us. When we are soaking “wet” with the Word of God, we start to quote the Words (accurately) comfortably when we are alone, and when we are with friends and people. When you can do that easily, then you would have met the condition that Jesus said _“my words abide in you”._

With these, you are now ready to Ask. Remember, you don’t ask before you abide. You ask only _after_ you abide.

And when you ask, you need to have the mindset that you are actually requesting. You are petitioning. You are not instructing or giving an order to God. You ask God. He will decide.

Putting the two together, you will start to understand why some or most of your “prayers” claiming these two verses is not answered.

It’s not that God is not listening, nor is he slow, or he is indifferent to you. It’s just that you didn’t dwell in His House and seek the Lord’s face when you talk to Him. You were self-centred instead of Christ-centred. You probably ask for what you wanted out of lust, out of envy, out of jealousy or simply out of pride.

You asked when you are in a car showroom, you asked when you are at a private apartment showroom, you asked when you are with some crazy rich people. You asked because you “see” something and you want it. We do not walk by sight, we walk by faith. So if you asked by sight, and not by faith, then chances are your “asking” will not be answered.

Go into a quiet place, just you and Him, and there you ask. There you will not be distracted and you can hear Him gently speaking and guiding His Words already in you to be manifested into a prayer, into a righteous request.

There in the quiet room, is where you abide in Him, and where His Son abide in you. There is where you ask as a Sons and Daughters of God and there is where you ask as the Righteousness of God in Christ. And there, God will answer you.
