*"For if we live, we live to the Lord; and if we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live or die, we are the Lord’s. For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living."*

~Romans 14:8-9


This portion of Scripture highlights the all-encompassing lordship of Jesus Christ in our lives. As followers of Christ, our existence has a purpose beyond ourselves. Whether we live or die, we are called to live for the Lord. Our lives are not our own; they belong to Him. He is the reason for our being, the center of our existence.


When we recognize the lordship of Christ over our lives, it transforms the way we approach every aspect of our existence. Our choices, actions, and attitudes are guided by our allegiance to Him. We are no longer driven by selfish ambitions or worldly desires but are motivated by a desire to honor and glorify the Lord in all that we do.


In 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Paul writes, *"Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own? For you were bought at a price; therefore, glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s."* We have been purchased by the precious blood of Christ, and our lives now belong to Him. Therefore, we are called to honor God with our bodies and our whole being.


As we navigate through the complexities of life, let us remember that we are not our own masters. Our lives are intertwined with the Lord's purpose and plan. In everything we do, whether big or small, let us seek to bring glory to His name. May our thoughts, words, and actions reflect the reality that Jesus Christ is the Lord of our lives.
