The Bible Reveals God Not Ourselves

*_The Bible Reveals God, Not Ourselves_*

In our journey of studying the Bible, it is vital to remember that the narratives and accounts within its pages are not primarily about us. Instead, they are meant to unveil the character and nature of our Heavenly Father, showcasing His faithfulness, love, power, and redemption throughout history.

The stories of David and Goliath, Joseph, Moses, and others serve as powerful illustrations of God's work in the lives of His people. They demonstrate His sovereignty, deliverance, and provision. However, it is essential to refrain from exclusively relating these accounts to ourselves and our specific circumstances.

Psalm 115:1 reminds us, *"Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us, but to Your name give glory."* The focus is on God's glory and His marvelous deeds, not on our own abilities or triumphs. When we read about David's bravery or Joseph's resilience, it should lead us to recognize and appreciate the attributes of God working through them.

Each character in the Bible reflects a facet of God's character and His redemptive plan for humanity. We are not to mimic their lives or try to recreate their experiences in our own lives. Instead, we are to observe and glean wisdom from their stories, seeking to know God more intimately and understand His ways.

Let us approach the Scriptures with humility, recognizing that they are meant to shape our understanding of God and how we relate to Him. Through the Word, we gain insights into His love, mercy, justice, and grace. It is through this understanding that we can cultivate a deeper, more meaningful relationship with our Heavenly Father.

As we study the Bible, let us view the characters as vessels through which God's greatness and faithfulness were displayed. May we seek to know Him more, to grow in our reverence and awe for His majesty, and to live in obedience to His Word.

Remember, it is not about us being the characters in the Bible, but about understanding who God is and how He desires to transform our lives according to His perfect will.
