It is a rare and precious gift to have people in our lives who are willing to tell us the hard truth, especially when we are oblivious to our own misguided paths. These truth-tellers have a discerning eye and a caring heart that prompts them to sound the alarm when they see us veering off course. In Proverbs 27:6, we read, *"Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful."* These individuals are not motivated by malice but by genuine concern for our well-being.


We should never take these truth-tellers for granted or despise their warnings. Their willingness to confront us with uncomfortable truths demonstrates their love and commitment to our growth. Proverbs 15:31 reminds us, *"The ear that hears the rebukes of life will abide among the wise."* When we humbly receive their admonition, we position ourselves for wisdom and growth.


Humility is essential when receiving correction and guidance from those who care about us. Proverbs 12:15 tells us, *"The way of a fool is right in his own eyes, but he who heeds counsel is wise."* Our pride can blind us to our own shortcomings, but humility allows us to acknowledge our need for guidance and correction. By remaining open to the wise counsel of others, we demonstrate our desire to grow and learn.


Let us cultivate a heart of gratitude for the truth-tellers in our lives. They are the ones who have the courage to speak up, even when it is uncomfortable or unpopular. Their honesty reflects God's love for us, as we read in Proverbs 27:9, *"Ointment and perfume delight the heart, and the sweetness of a man's friend gives delight by hearty counsel."* Their guidance helps us course-correct and walk in the path of righteousness.


May we be thankful for the people in our lives who are willing to tell us the hard truth. Their commitment to our well-being and growth should not be taken lightly. May we approach their counsel with humility, recognizing that it is for our own good. Let us receive their warnings and corrections with gratitude, knowing that they are instrumental in keeping us on the right path. Above all, let us remember that God often speaks to us through the voices of these truth-tellers, guiding us toward a life of wisdom and righteousness.
