Signs of the End-time
SIGNS
OF THE END-TIME
Mt
24:8-35; 36-44
Introduction:
Today, the world is replete with events and happenings
that are not only strange but also terrifying. Several strange signs are
beginning to appear globally. Sometimes, some of these beat the scientific
positions and claims. The world is caught up, in the web of myth and mystery.
Coming with this, are all kinds of prophecies acclaimed to be true and divine
and which in many cases are found not only to be biblically baseless but also
false.
We are indeed, in the era of falsehood and deception
leading people to a state of confusion and directionless.
If Christ had not foretold of the signs of the
end-time, even believers too would have been in a state of bewilderment. Again,
by these events, some have even prophesied/predicted the end of the world. But
thank God, Jesus Himself said: “But about the day or hour no one knows not even
the angels in heaven; nor the Son but only my Father. As it was in the day of
Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Ma.” Mt 24:26-
The disciple came to Jesus privately saying “Tell us,
when will these things be? And what will be the signs of Your coming, and of
the end of the age? Mt 24:3. To answer them, Jesus highlighted the signs they
and (we) should look for that will indicate the end of the age.
This study therefore, will highlight the signs of the
end time as told by Jesus Christ Himself. This is with a view to strengthening
our faith and re-assuring us of the fact that not withstanding opinions of men,
whatever Jesus said will definitely come to pass. It will also help us to
escape the deceits of men. What then are these signs?
v High level of deceit by men purporting to
be Christ – impersonation. Mt 24:4-5.
v Wars and rumours of wars – Mt 24:6.
v Rise of nations against nations and kingdom
against kingdom. Mt 24:7.
v Famines and pestilences, and earthquakes in
diverse places – Mt 24:7.
v Believers being delivered up to
tribulation, killing and great hatred. Mt 24:9.
v Betrayal among brethren as well as hatred
for one another. Mt 24:10.
v Rise of false prophets deceiving people. Mt
24:11.

and men – Mt 24:12.

throughout the world – Mt 24:14.

Daniel – Mt 24:15; Dan 9:27, 12:11.
v The falling away and the revelation of the
lawless one – 2 Thess 2:4,8.
v Rebuilding of the temple in Jerusalem.
v Perilous times and men – 2 Tim 3:1-6
v One world government – Dan 7:23; Rev
17:9-18.
v Ten kingdom government – Dan 24:1; 7:24
v The rebuilding of Babylon city – Rev
7:1-2;15-19
v One world religion?
v Restoration of Israel. Isa 60:9-14.
v Unprecedented tribulation – Mt 24:21; Mk
13; Lk 21:23
v The darkening of the sun, the moon, the
falling of stars from heaven and the shaking of the power of the heavens. Mk
24:29.
Conclusion:
We are gradually coming closer to the end of the age
when Christ will return. If Christ said it, it is definitely going to happen –
Rev 1:7, 22:20-21.
Bearing in mind the integrity and faithfulness of our
God, there is no doubt that “He that will come, will come.” “Therefore, since
all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in
holy conduct and godliness, looking for and hastening the coming of the day of
God because of which the heavens will be dissolved being on fire, and the
elements will melt with fervent heat?” 2 Pt 3:11-13.
