The Priority of Christ: Putting Him First in Our Lives

*_The Priority of Christ: Putting Him First in Our Lives_*

It is easy to get caught up in various priorities and commitments. However, as believers, we must recognize the significance of keeping Jesus Christ at the center of our lives. *When Jesus isn't in the first place, everything else can become disordered and out of balance.*

The Bible reminds us in Matthew 6:33, *"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."* This powerful verse emphasizes the importance of prioritizing God's kingdom and righteousness above all else. When we prioritize seeking God's presence, His will, and His Word, we are aligning our lives with His divine order.

Consider the example of Martha and Mary in Luke 10:38-42. Martha became distracted with the cares of serving, while Mary chose to sit at Jesus' feet and listen to His teachings. Jesus commended Mary's choice, indicating that focusing on Him and His teachings is of paramount importance. When we place Jesus first, our decisions, actions, and relationships fall into proper alignment.

When Jesus holds the primary place in our lives, other priorities fall into place as well. Our relationships, career, finances, and dreams are all subject to His lordship. Proverbs 3:6 reassures us, *"In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."* Acknowledging Jesus in all areas of our lives invites His guidance and order into every aspect.

Conversely, when we allow other things to take precedence over our relationship with Christ, chaos can ensue. Our decisions become self-centered, our priorities become skewed, and we lose sight of God's perfect plan for us. Colossians 3:2 advises, *"Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth."* By setting our minds on Christ and His eternal perspective, we ensure that our priorities are aligned with His will.

Seeking God's kingdom, prioritizing His presence, and aligning with His righteousness are foundational principles for a life well-lived. As we submit our lives to Christ, we can trust that all other areas of our lives will fall into their rightful places. May we always remember that when Jesus is our top priority, everything else aligns harmoniously under His lordship.
