WEAPONS OF SPIRITUAL WARFARE.


2 Corinth. 10:4 

4. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds. 


Weapons are instruments used to conquer enemies during war. Since creation, the desire to impose one's will upon one another has led to the active invention of weapons to achieve that purpose.

As Christians, the weapons of our warfare are not physical (Bow and arrow, dagger, cutlass, or guns) but rather spiritual because the enemies we are contending with are not physical personalities. We cannot use physical weapons to fight a spiritual war.


The Forces We Are Contending With include:

1. Principalities 

2. Cosmic power 

3. The rulers of the dark world.

4. The spiritual wickedness in high places.

We are not waging war against human beings but against wicked forces.


A spiritual stronghold is a habitual pattern of thought, built into one's thought life. Satan intends to capture the minds of men which is a battleground between light and darkness. The truth is the mind is the citadel of man's soul. This type of stronghold includes: 

1. Negative patterns of thinking.

2. Prideful and arrogant thoughts.

3. Worldly messages that have negative impressions on the minds and hearts of men.


What Are These Weapons?

1. Breast plate of RIGHTEOUSNESS.

2. Shield of FAITH.

3. Helmet of SALVATION.

4. Sword of the Spirit (Word of God).

5. Prevailing Prayer and supplication. Acts 12:2-10.

6. Blood of Jesus. Heb. 10:19.

7. Name of Jesus. Phil. 2:9-11 

8. Humility. Phil. 2:7&8 

9. Worship. 2 Chrns. 20:22&23.

10.  Prayer and Fasting. Matt. 17:21 

11. Our testimonies. Rev. 12:11 

12. Thanksgiving. Phil. 4:6&7.


Friends, if you are not genuinely born again, you cannot make use of these weapons effectively. You will be defeated by the enemy. In Acts 19:13-16, the sons of Sceva make use of one of the weapons and because they were not born again, they were defeated 

If you are not living a life of holiness, you cannot use the weapons to fight spiritual wars and win.

If you are not living by the standard of the WORD of God, you cannot win the battles of life using weapons.

You can never defeat satan by reasoning with him, by negotiating with him, or by telling him to just get out of your life. We defeat him by using the weapons of our warfare that are mighty through God when our obedience is complete.
