In a world that often glorifies independence and self-sufficiency, it's crucial to recognize that our true purpose and strength lie in our dependence on God and our interconnectedness with one another. Even the Son of God, Jesus Christ, demonstrated profound humility and dependence on His Father, setting a powerful example for us all.

John 5:19 provides us with a glimpse into Jesus' relationship with His Father: *"Then Jesus answered and said to them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.'"* This verse reveals the depth of Jesus' dependence on the Father. He recognized that His power and authority flowed from a place of submission to God's will.

In embracing this humility and dependence, Jesus accomplished the most profound work of redemption. Philippians 2:8-9 describes His obedience and subsequent exaltation: *"And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore, God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name."* Through His surrender and dependence, Jesus was granted all dominion and authority.

Just as Jesus exemplified dependence on His Father, we are called to recognize our need for God and our interconnectedness with fellow believers. 1 Corinthians 12:12-13 beautifully illustrates this truth: *"For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit."*

Let us remember that we were created to live in community with God and one another. We find our true strength, purpose, and identity in our dependence on our Heavenly Father. Just as Jesus' humility led to His exaltation, our willingness to submit to God and embrace interdependence with our fellow believers leads to unity, spiritual growth, and the fulfillment of God's purposes in our lives.
