Saved by the Blood of Jesus: Worthy in His Sacrifice
*_Saved by the Blood of Jesus: Worthy in His Sacrifice_*
In the history of God's redemptive plan, there is a powerful and humbling story—a story that reminds us of our unworthiness and the magnificence of God's grace. It is the story of the Passover, an event that echoes throughout the pages of the Bible and ultimately finds its fulfillment in the blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In the book of Exodus, we read about a time when the Lord was about to deliver His people from the oppressive hand of Pharaoh in Egypt. This divine intervention began with a crucial step—examining the doorposts of the Israelite homes.
Exodus 12:13 tells us the significant aspect of this divine inspection: *"Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt."*
This divine inspection did not concern itself with the worthiness of those dwelling inside the homes. It did not take into account their past mistakes, their righteousness, or their shortcomings. Instead, the Lord checked for one thing—the presence of the blood on the doorposts.
In much the same way, none of us can claim true worthiness. Our lives are marked by imperfections, sins, and failures. We are undeserving of the grace God has so generously offered. However, there is one thing that transcends our unworthiness—the blood of Jesus Christ, shed on the cross for the remission of our sins.
Just as the blood on the doorposts spared the Israelites from the devastating plague, so the blood of Jesus provides us with salvation and redemption. It is His perfect sacrifice that covers our sins and makes us worthy in the eyes of our Heavenly Father.
We should never forget that, in the end, it is not our own worthiness but the redemptive blood of Jesus that saves us. It is through His blood that we find forgiveness, cleansing, and a place of acceptance in the family of God.
