Looking Back, Moving Forward: God's Unwavering Presence
*_Looking Back, Moving Forward: God's Unwavering Presence_*
Genesis 28:15 reassures us with these comforting words from the Lord: *"Behold, I am with you and will keep you wherever you go, and will bring you back to this land; for I will not leave you until I have done what I have spoken to you."* This scripture echoes the truth that our sight and our faith have profound purposes in our journey with God.
Our sight allows us to look back and see the faithfulness of God throughout our lives. Psalm 77:11-12 beautifully captures this sentiment: *"I will remember the works of the Lord; Surely I will remember Your wonders of old. I will also meditate on all Your work, and talk of Your deeds."* As we reflect on our journey, we can clearly see the hand of God guiding, protecting, and providing for us, affirming His faithfulness.
On the other hand, our faith enables us to look ahead with assurance and confidence in God's promises. Hebrews 11:1 defines faith: *"Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen."* It's the unshakable conviction that God, who has been faithful in the past, will continue to be faithful in our future.
As we go through life, it's essential to look back and acknowledge God's presence, grace, and provision that have accompanied us every step of the way. Simultaneously, it's crucial to look ahead with unwavering faith, knowing that the same faithful God who has been our constant companion in the past will never leave us nor forsake us in the days to come.
Deuteronomy 31:6 reaffirms this truth: *"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."* Our faith rests in this promise that God's presence will be our perpetual companion on this journey of life.
May we look back with gratitude and look ahead with unwavering faith, knowing that the God who has been faithful in our past is the same God who will be faithful in our future.
