Matthew 12:34 reminds us: *"Out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks."* This simple yet profound statement by Jesus holds a profound truth that tells us our speech reflects the state of our hearts.


When people continually speak negative, cynical, or hurtful words, they unveil the contents of their hearts. Our speech pattern often serves as a revealing mirror reflecting the true nature of what resides within us.


For Christians, our speech should reflect the presence of God in our lives. Ephesians 4:29 guides us: *"Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers."* Our words should bear the mark of kindness, encouragement, and grace, manifesting the transformation that God has worked within us.


Conversely, those who have yet to embrace the love and truth of God might manifest a different speech pattern. Their words might reflect the values and priorities of the world rather than the fruits of the Spirit.


Our speech, therefore, serves as an indicator of our hearts' condition. If God genuinely dwells within us, our words will echo His love, kindness, and truth. Our conversations will uplift, encourage, and build others up.


Let us guard our hearts diligently, for they shape our speech. As believers, let our speech be a testament to the transformation and grace of God working within us. May our words always reflect the love, truth, and goodness of our Lord.
