Beware of Anger
BEWARE OF ANGER
Numb. 20:10&11
10. And Moses and Aaron gathered the congregation together before the rock, and he said to them, hear now ye rebels, must we fetch water out of the rock?
11. And Moses lifted his hand, and with his rod, he smote the rock twice, and the water came out abundantly, and the congregation drank, and their beasts also.
In our generation, many great men and women have lost their glorious destiny, position, and inheritance in Christ Jesus as a result of anger. How are mighty fallen and weapons of war perishing. 2 Sam. 1:27.
Anger will cut short your journey to greatness if not properly dealt with.
When you say certain things under the influence of anger,
> You will lose communion with God.
> You will fall out of favor with God and man.
> You allow accuser of brethren to have a hold on your life.
The divine instruction to Moses is to "speak to the rock" but in anger orchestrated by hell through the instrumentality of men, he struck the rock twice. The irony of this is that water came out of the rock in abundance despite the disobedience of Moses. What Moses displays is an outburst of anger.
Where does this anger emanate from? The same anger exhibited by Moses when he killed the Egyptian is what came into play several years later. It means the root of anger and bitterness were deep-seated in Moses despite his close work with God. The fruits, branches, and stems are cut off, but the root is still there waiting for an opportunity to show itself.
Many of us are working for God but we have not dealt with the root of anger in our life. Despite several encounters with God, that root is still there. The same miracle that brought Moses fame, was the same miracle that ended his life and ministry.
God told Moses that he would take the Israelites to the promised land, but anger terminated that arrangement. Friends, that is how strong anger is in the life of a man who walks in the flesh. Note that anger is one of the desires of sinful nature. Gal. 5:20NLT.
If it deals with a man like Moses, it can deal with you.
Friend, tend inward into your life today, is there a root of anger waiting to manifest itself in your life as it did in the life of Moses? Cry to God for help and He will help you.
You can be working for God. Success may be attending to your life and ministry. But as long as the root of anger is deeply rooted in your life, is a matter of time, before it cuts short your life and ministry.
