*_What are your False Lenses?_*


Many of us have come to know and believe in God's love. We understand that Jesus died on the cross for our sins and that the Holy Spirit dwells within us. However, despite this knowledge, many of us still struggle with fear and anxiety, lacking joy in our lives. Why is that?


One reason may be that we are viewing ourselves and the world through false lenses. We have beliefs that are not grounded in the truth of God's Word, and as a result, we are not experiencing the fullness of the abundant life that Christ promises us.


Let us examine some of these false lenses and counter them with the truth of God's Word:


False Lens #1: _"God cannot be trusted."_

Bible: *"Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths."*

Proverbs 3:5-6


False Lens #2: _"I am what I do."_

Bible: *"For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast."*

Ephesians 2:8-9


False Lens #3: _"I am worthless."_

Bible: *"But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."*

Romans 5:8


False Lens #4: _"Others cannot be trusted."_

Bible: *"Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself."*

Philippians 2:3


False Lens #5: _"God is distant."_

Bible: *"For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord."*

Romans 8:38-39


False Lens #6: _"I am unprotected in a dangerous world"._

Bible: *"He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, 'He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.'"*

Psalm 91:1-2


False Lens #7: _"I am a victim."_

Bible: *"Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us."*

Romans 8:37


False Lens #8: _"Money and education determine my worth."_

Bible: *"For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God's."*

1 Corinthians 6:20


Let us not be deceived by these false lenses. Let us renew our minds with the truth of God's Word, and may our emotions be connected to the reality of our new identity as sons and daughters of God. May we experience the fullness of the abundant life that Christ has promised us.
