*_Street Smart with Your Finances: Biblical Principles for Wealth Management_*

Jesus was never shy about addressing the topic of money. He spoke openly and trenchantly about the pursuit and possession of wealth, highlighting both its potential pitfalls and positive uses. One of His teachings, often referred to as the parable of the dishonest manager, challenges us to consider the importance of being street smart with our finances.

*"And I say to you, make friends for yourselves by unrighteous mammon, that when you fail, they may receive you into an everlasting home"* (Luke 16:9). In this intriguing parable, Jesus uses the story of a dishonest manager to illustrate the importance of shrewd financial stewardship. While He does not endorse the manager's dishonesty, He does emphasize the manager's astuteness in using money to secure his future.

Jesus mourns the fact that His disciples often lack wisdom in handling their finances for eternal impact. *"For the sons of this world are more shrewd in their generation than the sons of light"* (Luke 16:8). He challenges us to use our resources wisely to make lasting friendships that extend beyond this life into eternity.

So, how can we be street smart with our finances? By investing in kingdom priorities that have eternal significance. *"Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven"*(Matt 6:19-20). We can use our money to introduce people to the gospel, leading them to eternal salvation, and to support causes that impact lives both temporally and eternally.

It's a matter of serving God with our money rather than serving ourselves or our possessions. *"No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon"* (Matt 6:24). Let us manage our finances wisely, ensuring that our wealth serves God's purposes and leads to eternal blessings.
