God's Ultimate Purpose: Bringing All Things Together in Christ
*_God's Ultimate Purpose: Bringing All Things Together in Christ_*
*"that in the dispensation of the fullness of the times He might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven and which are on earth—in Him."*
~Ephesians 1:10
In Eph 1:10, we catch a glimpse of God's grand plan of redemption, which culminates in the restoration of harmony in the universe. From the very beginning, God's intention was to bring the entire cosmos back into obedience and subjection to Jesus Christ. In the Genesis account, we see that there was only one government in the universe—the government of God, characterized by light and life, where every creature lived in harmony and subjection to Him.
However, with the fall of man and the entrance of sin into the world, this harmony was disrupted. Satan, the adversary, rebelled against God, leading a host of angels and humanity into disobedience. Yet, *even in the midst of darkness, God's plan of redemption remained steadfast.* One day, Satan and all who have rebelled with him will be cast into outer darkness, separated from the presence of God forever.
But the story doesn't end there. In the fullness of times, God will gather all things together in Christ. Romans 14:1 declares, "*For it is written: 'As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God.'*" Every created being, both in heaven and on earth, will come under the authority of Jesus Christ, living in a world and universe of peace and glory.
Revelation 21:4 paints a beautiful picture of this restored harmony: "*And God will wipe away every tear from their eyes; there shall be no more death, nor sorrow, nor crying. There shall be no more pain, for the former things have passed away.*" What a glorious universe it will be when all creation is in sync with God once more, living in perfect harmony and peace.
Let us take comfort in the knowledge that God's plan of redemption is unfolding according to His perfect timing. As we eagerly await the day when all things are gathered together in Christ, let us live in anticipation of the glorious future that awaits us.
