Sharing the Gospel: Don't Cast Pearls Before Swine

*_Sharing the Gospel: Don't Cast Pearls Before Swine_*

As followers of Christ, we are called to share the Good News with the world, but it is essential that we do so with discernment and wisdom. In our efforts to evangelize, we often encounter individuals who are not open to the message of Christianity and are more interested in arguing and refuting our beliefs. In such situations, it is crucial to remember the value of discernment.

Proverbs 26:4-5 provides a valuable principle: *"Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes."* These verses emphasize the importance of discerning when to engage in arguments and when to refrain from doing so. Some individuals have made up their minds and are not genuinely seeking the truth; they only want to argue.

We must ask ourselves: When was the last time we witnessed someone become a Christian after losing an argument? The truth is that apologetics alone, without the work of the Holy Spirit, is often ineffective. 1 Corinthians 2:14 explains: *"But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned."* Without the Holy Spirit convicting hearts of sin, righteousness, and judgment, intellectual arguments may not lead to true conversion.

In these situations, we must remember the words of Matthew 7:6: *"Do not give what is holy to the dogs; nor cast your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn and tear you in pieces."* We are called to share the Gospel with discernment, recognizing when it is appropriate to engage and when it is best to withhold our pearls of wisdom.

Our primary role is to faithfully share the message of Christ, knowing that the Holy Spirit is the one who convicts and transforms hearts. We are called to be vessels of His love and truth, sowing seeds of faith with wisdom and discernment.

Let us approach evangelism with discernment, recognizing when to engage in discussions and when to leave the outcome to the Holy Spirit. May our evangelism efforts be guided by discernment and wisdom, always pointing to the hope found in Jesus.
