The concept of letting God fight our battles is a profound truth that requires both faith and action on our part. This action begins with prayer. As believers, it is essential that we cultivate a habit of praying first before embarking on any endeavor, facing any challenge, or making any decision. Prayer is not just a ritual; it is our direct line to the Almighty, our source of strength and wisdom.


The Bible repeatedly emphasizes the importance of seeking God in prayer. One of the most powerful reminders of God fighting for us is found in Exodus 14:14: *"The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."* Here, we see the Israelites at the brink of the Red Sea, pursued by the Egyptian army. In their moment of fear and uncertainty, Moses urged them to trust in God’s deliverance. This deliverance was activated through their faith and Moses' prayerful leadership.


Similarly, King Jehoshaphat faced a vast army and turned to God in prayer, saying, *"O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You."* (2 Chr 20:12). Jehoshaphat’s prayer was an acknowledgment of their helplessness and a demonstration of total reliance on God’s power. The result was a miraculous victory without the need for battle, proving that when we pray first, we allow God to take control and fight for us.


Prayer is also a means of aligning ourselves with God’s will. In Philippians 4:6-7, Paul instructs us, *"Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus."* When we pray, we are not only seeking God’s intervention but also His peace, which guards our hearts and minds, enabling us to face our challenges with a divine calm and assurance.


In Matthew 6:33, Jesus tells us, *"But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you."* This verse underscores the principle of prioritizing our relationship with God through prayer. When we seek Him first, we acknowledge His sovereignty and invite His guidance and provision into every area of our lives.


As Christians, our desire should always be to seek God’s presence and guidance first. Prayer is the channel through which we express our dependence on Him and invite His power to work in our situations. Let us develop a habit of praying before acting, knowing that in doing so, we allow God to fight for us and experience His peace and victory in our lives.
