Letting God Fight Your Battles
*_Letting God Fight Your Battles_*
Does the battle around you continue to rage no matter how hard you fight? Have your enemies gained the upper hand? Have you grown weary or lost sight of the prize? These questions resonate deeply with many of us as we navigate the various struggles and challenges of life. Yet, amidst these battles, we must remember that God did not call us to fight alone.
When we seek God in prayer and acknowledge our weakness and weariness, He will fight the battle for us. In Exodus 14:14, we are reminded, *"The Lord will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace."* This verse speaks directly to the heart of our struggles, urging us to trust in God's power and not rely solely on our own strength.
The story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20 serves as a powerful example of seeking God in times of battle. When faced with a vast army, Jehoshaphat turned to God in prayer, acknowledging his own powerlessness. 2 Chronicles 20:12 records his prayer, *"O our God, will You not judge them? For we have no power against this great multitude that is coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are upon You."*
God responded to Jehoshaphat’s prayer by assuring him that the battle was not his to fight. In verse 15, God said, *"Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God's."* As a result, God delivered Jehoshaphat and his people from their enemies.
This assurance is not limited to biblical times. In our own lives, when we feel overwhelmed and outmatched, we can turn to God for strength and guidance. Philippians 4:13 encourages us, *"I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."* By seeking God, we draw on His limitless power and find the strength to face our battles.
Someday, we will stand at the gates of heaven and gaze in wonder at the prize in front of us. The battles we fought will become a fading memory in the light of God's eternal glory. 2 Timothy 4:7-8 speaks of this hope: *"I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing."*
Seek God in prayer, acknowledge your need for His strength, and trust that He will fight for you. As you keep your eyes on the prize and remain steadfast in faith, you will see the victory that God has promised.
