Building On Christ: The Foundation of Godly Relationships

*_Building on Christ: The Foundation of Godly Relationships_*

The foundation of our relationship with others, especially in marriage, must be built upon Christ. As believers, we are called to align our lives with God's will, and that includes our relationships. *"For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ"* (1 Cor 3:11). Jesus is the cornerstone upon which our lives and relationships should be built. Without Him, our foundations are unstable and prone to crumble.

God gives us a clear directive about whom we should be closely connected with, especially in marriage. *"Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?"* (2 Cor 6:14). This command is not about spoiling our fun or limiting our choices but is about protecting us. When we choose to align ourselves with someone who does not share our faith, we invite conflict and instability into our lives.

It's not enough for the other person to merely seem open to Christianity; they must be born again. *"Jesus answered and said to him, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God"* (John 3:3). Only a born-again person can truly understand the purpose and sanctity of marriage as God designed it. They will have a proper perspective on what marriage is meant to be and how it reflects Christ's relationship with the Church. Additionally, they will see the world through the lens of eternity, valuing things differently than those who do not have the hope of eternal life.

We need to remember that God is not just a part of the picture; He is the bigger picture. *"In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths"* (Pro 3:6). Without God at the center, our relationships are vulnerable to the world's pressures and misunderstandings. Everything built without Him is on shaky ground. But when we build our relationships with Christ as the foundation, we stand firm, and our relationships reflect His love and truth.

Building a relationship on the foundation of Christ is not just a recommendation; it is essential for a life that honors God and leads to true fulfillment. Let us heed God's wisdom and ensure that our relationships are grounded in Him, reflecting His love and purpose in all things.
