Finding Strength in God's Timing

*_Finding Strength in God's Timing_*

Waiting can feel like torture when you're afraid. Fear often causes us to make hasty, unwise decisions, reacting out of panic rather than patience. Yet, when David was filled with fear, he chose to trust in God rather than act impulsively. In Psalm 27, David writes, *"Wait on the Lord; be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart; wait, I say, on the Lord!"* (Psalm 27:14). Despite his fear, David called upon the Lord, presenting his fears and waiting patiently for God’s deliverance.

David's example in the Psalms shows us different ways to handle fear through faith. In Psalm 25, David turns to God when he fears losing his honor, saying, *"Let me not be ashamed; let not my enemies triumph over me."* In Psalm 26, when concerned about his reputation, he invites God to test his heart: *"Examine me, O Lord, and prove me; try my mind and my heart."* And in Psalm 28, fearing for his life, David cries out, *"Hear the voice of my supplications when I cry to You, when I lift up my hands toward Your holy sanctuary."* In each of these situations, David demonstrates a willingness to trust God rather than give in to fear.

A powerful example from David's life is his decision not to kill Saul, even when he had the chance. David’s men urged him to take matters into his own hands, but he chose to wait on God's timing. He trusted that God would fulfill His promises in His own way. This decision shows David's deep trust in God, despite the fear and uncertainty he faced over many years.

Waiting on God requires patience and faith. Lamentations 3:24-26 says, *"The Lord is my portion, says my soul, therefore I hope in Him! The Lord is good to those who wait for Him, to the soul who seeks Him."* Waiting is not passive but an active demonstration of trust in God's perfect timing. Let us follow David’s example by bringing our fears to God and trusting in His plan, knowing that He uses these moments to grow and strengthen us.
