How The Mighty Fall

How The Mighty Fall

Introduction:

2 Sam. 1:25-27

A mighty man of God is the one who carries His anointing, His power, and His grace anywhere he goes.

When we talk about mighty men who fell, we are talking about men on whose heads the Spirit of God once upon a time descended and chose to abide, remain on them, and fill them with the grace and power of God.

The reality is that Satan recognizes them.

His tactics to make a mighty man of God fall as he did in the case of Adam, Samson, Esau, Saul, David, Judas, Demas, and even Moses, have not changed. The first step in his tactics is to misdirect the focus of God's generals who will not guard their lives jealously.

1. In the case of Samson, it was women.

2. In the case of Esau, it was food.

3. In the case of Saul, it was a lack of patience.

4. In the case of David, it was social status and woman.

5. In the case of Moses, it was anger.

6. In the case of Judas, it was mammon (money).

7. the In case of Demas, it was the love of this world.

This trick of Satan is an age-long one. Many mighty men have fallen into his traps, and several in our days are still sinking into the decorated snares of the devil today.

As a misplacement of God's grace, power, and anointing, the *SUN* of several great men has set at midday. How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perish?

*THE WEAPONS SATAN USES TO BRING DOWN MIGHTY MEN*

1. *IGNORANCE*: The first weapon Satan always used to bring down mighty men is ignorance. The antidote to fight back is correct knowledge of God through His word and His ways. Hosea 4:6.

2. *SLIPS AND STEPS*

The path unto the fall of a great man of God is not always a straightforward one. It is always several slips and steps in the wrong direction. Slips of eyes, slips of thoughts, slips of tongues.

Friends, it is not one single step that leads to the great fall of a mighty man of God but several falls.

There are quiet steps that lead to fall. Sometimes, these steps may look spiritual, and some bring great victories, but in the long run, they bring a mighty man into disrepute.

3. *EYES FOR WOMEN*

This is a great weapon the devil is using against many of God's generals in our days. He used it to bring down Samson. It works perfectly. *It can also be eyes for men; it can be eyes for the glory of this world*. Friends, are you hooked on pornography, alcohol, and wild parties? That is the beginning of your downfall. Judges 16: 1-31

4. *ANGER*

Moses did not get to the promised land because of anger. He allowed men to provoke him to do what he was not supposed to do. Deut. 20: 7-12.

5. *LOVE OF MONEY*

Gehazi was supposed to take over from Elisha, but for the love of money, gold, and raiment, he lost that opportunity. He brought causes upon himself and his generation. What a tragedy. He inherited the leprosy of Naaman instead of the anointing of Elisha. 2 Kings 5:20-27.

6. *LOVE OF FOOD*

Esau lost his birthright, blessing, and his inheritance as a result of food. He sought it with tears, but unfortunately, he could not get it back. Gen. 25: 29-34. Heb. 12:16-17.

7. *LOVE OF THE WORLD*

Demas, one of the disciples of Paul forsook him because of the love of this present world. Many great men who have done great exploits in our generation for God are going back like Demas because they love this world. They would have been great tools in the hand of God, but the love of the flesh, love of the eyes, and pride of life have taken them back into the world. They are once a terror to the enemy but, like Samson, are playing sport to the enemy of their souls. 1 John 2:16. 2 Tim.4:10, Col. 4:14, Phm. 1:24.

Conclusion:

Friends, what brought these great men down, are still around today. Behind every fall of every great man of God is Satan. When you fall, you are finished but the work God handed over to you is still there unfinished. The work suffers. Has the enemy of your soul brought you down, the merciful God is saying come. He is ready to start all over with you.
