Standing Firm: The Enemy Cannot Change Who You Are
*_Standing Firm: The Enemy Cannot Change Who You Are_*
The enemy, Satan, has no power to change who we are in Christ. His greatest weapon is not transformation, but deception. He seeks to make us doubt our identity, to question who we are and what Christ has done for us. But the truth is that our identity in Christ is unshakable, established by God’s eternal promises.
The enemy’s strategy is always rooted in lies. Just as he tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden by casting doubt on God’s words, he tries to do the same to believers today. He whispers lies, hoping to make us doubt our worth, our salvation, and our relationship with God. But his power is limited—he cannot change us. *"You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world"* (1 John 4:4). This truth reminds us that the power of Christ within us far outweighs anything the enemy can do.
Our identity in Christ is secure. *"For you are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus"* (Galatians 3:26). Once we are born again, we are no longer slaves to sin or bound by the lies of the enemy. We are children of God, made new in Christ, and the enemy’s accusations have no hold over us.
When the enemy tries to sow seeds of doubt, we must stand firm in the knowledge of who we are. *"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new"* (2 Corinthians 5:17). This new identity is not something that can be altered by the enemy’s schemes.
Satan’s goal is to undermine our confidence in Christ. But we must remember that our foundation is built on Christ, not on our feelings or circumstances. When we trust in God’s promises, we can resist the enemy’s lies and live confidently as the people God has called us to be.
