Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?
Why Do Bad things Happen to Good People?
Text: 2 Corinthians 12:1-10
DISCUSS:
Three things you can do when Tragedies, Deaths and Disappointments come your way:
1. You can become bitter and blame God. Like the Israelites in Numbers 14:2, they murmured, and complained!
2. You can become pitiful and pity yourself. But Remember that when unfavorable circumstance comes your way you are not the only one suffering, and REMEMBER WHAT JESUS WENT THROUGH ON THE CROSS!
3.You can Trust God and accept it. II Cor. 4: 15-18 Romans 8:28 says: And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
SOME OF THE REASONS BAD THINGS HAPPEN TO GOOD PEOPLE ARE STATED BELOW:
1.TO BRING HONOR AND GLORY TO GOD
II Cor. 12:7 - Lest I should be exalted above measure there was given to me a thorn in the flesh, the messenger of satan to buffet me, lest I be exalted above measure.
The Bible is very plain that God puts trials in our path. James 1:2 - Count it all joy WHEN ye fall into divers temptations. Note it did not say "IF" But "WHEN". Trials are inescapable!
Job 5:7 Mans troubles are as the sparks that fly upward!
The only way to escape troubles is to exit life. Jesus said in John 16:33 that in the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.
II Tim. 3:12 - Yes, and everyone who wants to live a godly life in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution.
The Key to Victory over Trials, is to realize that God is working out something good in our life that in the end will bring honor and glory to him! When you go through the bad times God is putting your Faith on the Witness stand! Anybody can live for God and Praise Him when everything is going good. But when things are going bad and times are tough. That is when our Faith is put to the Test.
Remember when you where given a test in School, it was on information already given. So when you go through your test, Remember God has already supplied you with the information to pass the test!
NOTE: IF GOD LEADS US TO IT, HE WILL LEAD US THROUGH IT!
A good example of someone that pass the test is Job. In his test, this is what he writes as answer: The Lord giveth and the Lord hath taken away blessed be the name of the Lord (Job 1:21). Ye though God slay me, yet will I trust in Him (Job 13:15).
2.TO INCREASE OUR ENDURANCE AND MAKE US STRONG
When the butterfly is ready to leave the cocoon, it has to fight its way out. If you open the cocoon and make it easy for the butterfly to get out, you have doomed the butterfly, because it needs the struggle to strengthen its wings so it can fly.
In biblical times, when a goldsmith tested and refined gold, he would keep purifying it until he could see his face in the gold. In the same way, God Almighty will test you until He sees Jesus Christ in you when He looks at you. When you look like Christ, God knows you have passed the test.
3.THAT YOU CAN BE A BLESSING AND HELP TO OTHERS (II Cor. 1:4)
John.9.1 - Now as Jesus passed by, He saw a man who was blind from birth.
John.9.2 - And His disciples asked Him, saying, "Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?"
John.9.3 - Jesus answered, "Neither this man nor his parents sinned, but that the works of God should be revealed in him.
We face certain trouble and trials so that when we see our Brothers or Sisters going through that trial we can share how we have been there and God will see you through.
4.THAT WE MIGHT ENTER INTO THE FELLOWSHIP OF HIS SUFFERING: 2Tim. 2:12 - If we suffer, we shall also reign with him.
5. GOD CHASTENS HIS CHILDREN: Hebrews 12:6 - For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. God chastens us because He loves us!
Prayer: Almighty father thank for working out the for in every situation that comes my way. Help me not to fail you when trials come my way. Give grace to reflect back on the information given to be able to provide the correct answer to the question like brother Job did in his own test, in Jesus name. Amen.
SHALOM!
