O God, Strengthen Our Hands

Introduction:

We thank God who over the years, has sustained and kept us and who is able to keep us to the uttermost. It is always good to have a review of one’s life in this journey of faith. No matter how strong a man is there comes a time of weakness – Isa 40:30. “Even youths grow tired and weary, young men stumble and fall, but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength, they will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint,”. Thank God that those who wait or hope in the Lord will not grow tired or weary.

Lord, Strengthen Our Hands:

Today, our prayer focus will be ‘O Lord, strengthen our hands’. In the journey of faith, as we see in the passage that we read, there are factors and elements that can make a man derail: (‘1) Distraction – “Sanballat  and Geshem sent me this message: “Come, let us meet together in one of the villages on the plain of Ono”. (2) Deceit: “But they were scheming to harm me”. But thank God for a man who is focused. “Four times they sent me the same message, and each time I gave them the same answer”. (3) Discouragement and intimidation through false accusation “Then the fifth time Sanballat sent his aide to me with the same message, and in his hand was an unsealed letter”. An open invitation for temptation. This contained a false accusation. (4) Disappointment (5) Displeasure (6) Divisive tendency to break the rank.

Now, I think it is better to also examine ourselves – 2 Cor 13:5 and see how any of these has weakened and made us to shift our focus and steadfastness.  The question today is: Am I still what I used to be in campus, fervent, vibrant, prayerful, faithful, committed, reliable, trustworthy etc? In the same vein, we will pray for:

-          Brethren generally.

-          Brethren who have fallen victims of the devil’s trap and they have left off from their first love.

-          Brethren who are sick, weak and weary.

-          Our Nation
