HELP FROM ABOVE (Psalm 121:1-2)


Introduction:

Life is full of challenges, uncertainties, and difficulties that often leave people feeling weak and helpless. At such times, many believers turn to God, trusting Him for guidance, protection, strength, and provision. "Help from above" refers to the divine assistance that comes from God in times of need. The Bible teaches that God is always willing to help those who call upon Him with faith and sincerity. His help gives hope, courage, and victory over life's struggles.


One of the most encouraging verses about God's help is found in Psalm 121:1–2, which says: "I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth." This passage reminds us that true and lasting help comes from God, the Creator of heaven and earth.


Throughout the Bible, God demonstrated His power by helping His people. When the Israelites were trapped between the Red Sea and the Egyptian army, God miraculously parted the sea and made a way for them to escape. This shows that no situation is impossible for God. In Exodus 14:14, Moses encouraged the people by saying: "The Lord shall fight for you, and ye shall hold your peace." God fulfilled this promise by delivering them safely.


Another example is the story of David and Goliath. David, though young and inexperienced in battle, trusted God completely. He defeated the giant Goliath because he relied on God's strength instead of his own. David declared in 1 Samuel 17:47: "For the battle is the Lord's, and he will give you into our hands." This teaches us that victory comes when we depend on God's help.


God's help is not limited to physical battles. He also provides wisdom, comfort, peace, and strength during difficult times. In Isaiah 41:10, God gives a reassuring promise: "Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness." This verse assures believers that God is always present and ready to support them.


The New Testament also emphasizes the importance of seeking God's help through prayer. Jesus taught His followers to pray and trust God for their daily needs. In Matthew 7:7, He said: "Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you." This encourages Christians to approach God confidently, knowing that He hears and answers sincere prayers according to His will.


Receiving help from above also requires faith, obedience, and trust in God. We should live according to His commandments and believe that He is able to do more than we can imagine. Even when answers do not come immediately, we should remain patient and continue trusting Him. God's timing is always perfect, and His plans are for our good.


Conclusion:

In conclusion, help from above is the greatest source of strength and hope for every believer. Human help may fail, but God's help never fails. The Bible is filled with examples of people who trusted God and experienced His miraculous intervention. As Christians, we should always seek God's guidance through prayer, study His Word, and trust Him in every situation. When we depend on Him, He provides the strength, wisdom, and courage needed to overcome life's challenges. Truly, our help comes from the Lord, who never abandons those who put their trust in Him.
